US officials have raised concerns about TikTok, claiming it poses a national security risk. Officials believe that the Chinese government can use this app to spy on Americans or secretly influence public opinion.
FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress last year that the Chinese government could access Americans’ devices through TikTok’s software.
Due to these concerns, the US Congress passed a law TikTok Banned In the US. President Joe Biden signed the law into law in April 2024. After this, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance also tried to challenge this decision in court, but it failed. The Supreme Court unanimously rejected TikTok’s appeal on 17 January, after which TikTok stopped working in America from today i.e.19 January.

In an interview given to NBC News, Donald Trump has indicated that he can give relief to the Chinese app TikTok. Donald Trump made it clear during the interview that at present he has not taken any decision in this regard.
He is currently considering extending the time limit given to the short video-sharing platform only for the next 90 days. If Trump reaches a final decision in this regard, he can announce it on Monday.
