Delhi Mini Metro Route: Second Shortest Metro Route

The three-coach train of the Delhi Metro will prove to be a new milestone for the country’s urban transport system. Under the fourth phase, this 8 km metro corridor from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block will become the second shortest metro line in the Delhi Metro network, improving last-mile connectivity with other metro corridors.

This corridor will enhance last-mile access for commuters travelling from South to Central Delhi. The project will also improve congestion on other Metro lines and enable smoother travel at important Metro stations. Travel time will be reduced for thousands of daily commuters, further strengthening the sustainability of urban transport.
3 Coach Trains Will Be Used on Metro Line
For the first time in the country, 3 coach trains will be used on a metro line. This model is designed for short-distance urban travel. This will provide better service to many daily commuters. This corridor will not only reduce the length of the train but will also make urban commuting easier with an economically sustainable metro system.
The Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor is being constructed keeping in mind the demand of commuters. The densely populated corridor often requires long rakes to accommodate large crowds. However, this particular section will serve short-distance commuters who need the metro multiple times.

And it is expected to improve access to commercial areas and promote sustainable urban transportation with smart and eco-friendly infrastructure.
Delhi Mini Metro Route: The New Corridor will have 8 Stations
- Lajpat Nagar – Interchange with Pink and Violet lines.
- Andrews Ganj
- Greater Kailash-1 – For Greater Kailash and surrounding areas.
- Chirag Delhi – Interchange with Magenta Line.
- Pushpa Bhawan – Connecting government offices and residential areas.
- Saket Court
- Pushpa Vihar – Will benefit people of Sectors 1, 3, 4 and 7.
- Saket G Block – Interchange with Golden Line to Airport.

Unlike most metro lines that run with 4, 6 or 8 coach trains, this new 3-coach system is specially designed for short distance travel.

Eco-Friendly Transport Option
The smaller train format reduces energy consumption per trip, making it an environmentally friendly and financially sound option. This 3-coach train will have a seating and standing capacity of around 300 passengers per coach. Thus, the total capacity of this train will be 900 passengers per train. This route is expected to start by 2029.
