Development of the Musk Saudi Underground Transportation Tunnels

Musk Saudi Underground Transportation projects represent an innovative solution to reducing traffic congestion in major cities such as Riyadh, which are experiencing rapid population growth and urban expansion.

Boring Co. Gets Saudi Project

  • In February, The Boring Company and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority signed a memorandum of understanding to build a 17-kilometre underground road similar to the one implemented in Las Vegas.
  • Dubai loop The initial Dubai pilot project will feature 11 stations and 17km of tunnels and transport over 20,000 passengers per hour, with the aim of eventually expanding into the Dubai Loop, the next-generation underground transport system in the emirate.

UAE City Network Planned

The Dubai Loop, planned by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company, is to connect all major hubs in the UAE city. The potential speed allowed for vehicles is up to 100 mph. The company says the tunnel could reduce travel times around Dubai to just a few minutes.

  • As mentioned, the 17-kilometer-long tunnel has 11 stations. On the other hand, this is only the first phase of the Dubai Loop by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company.
  • Starting with 20,000 passengers per hour, the expanded system aims to handle over 100,000 passengers after the completion of the expansion and the first phase.

The initiative also aims to promote sustainability by using electric vehicles in a controlled environment, thus contributing to Dubai’s ambitious sustainability goals, which align with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
