Apple Closes First China Store: Tech company Apple has announced the closure of retail stores in China.
Store location: The company will close its store located at Parkland Mall in Dalian city on 9 August. This is the first time Apple has closed an outlet since opening its first store in China in 2008.

The company said it is focusing on maintaining market share in China and opening new stores in markets like India, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Reason for closing the store-
The company cited the changing business environment in the mall as the reason for this. Actually Parkland Mall was recently rebranded as Intime City. After the change in its management, many big brands closed their stores.

Apple said, due to the departure of many retailers from Parkland Mall, we decided to close our store. The company said that Apple’s second store in Dalian will remain open in Olympia 66 Mall, which is 10 minutes away from Parkland.

Apple has 56 stores in China
Apple’s strategy in China and new stores Despite closing stores in China, Apple has made it clear that it is not retreating from this market. The company has 56 stores in Greater China, which accounts for more than 10% of its more than 530 global stores.
Apple is also focusing on production in India
Apple is focusing on iPhone production in India instead of China. 78% of iPhones sold in the US are being made in India. According to market researcher Canalys, 23.9 million (2 crore 39 lakh) iPhones were made in India between January and June in 2025, which is 53% more than last year.
India left China behind in terms of exports to America
In April 2025, 33 lakh iPhones were sent to America from India. Whereas the number of mobiles sent from China was 9 lakh. Of the iPhones manufactured in India, 78% were sent to America. Last year this figure was 53%.
