Hyundai Xcent CNG EX Launched Hyundai Motor India today (7 April) launched the CNG version of the base variant EX of the micro SUV Exter with dual-cylinder technology. The company claims that the car runs 27.1 kilometers on one kilo of CNG.

What is the speciality of Hyundai Xcent CNG EX?
Dual-cylinder technology: In the dual hyundai CNG-cylinder setup, two CNG cylinders of 30-30 liters each are provided in the boot of the car. This setup was first introduced by Tata in its premium hatchback Altroz. Now this setup is available in all the CNG cars of the company. Its biggest advantage is that it provides more boot space in the car.
The updated Exter CNG also gets an integrated electronic control unit (ECU). This allows the car to be easily switched from petrol to CNG mode. This function is also available in all Tata CNG cars. The company is offering a warranty of 3 years and unlimited kilometres with the Exter dual CNG-cylinder technology.
Hyundai Xcent CNG EX Engine
- CNG setup with E20 fuel-ready petrol engine.
- There are two engine options to power the Hyundai Xter.
- The first is a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine, which generates 83hp of power and 113.8nm of peak torque.
- This engine comes in Hyundai’s Grand i10 Neos, i20 and Aura.
- This engine is tuned with a 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and Smart AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox.
- The second is a 1.2-liter bi-fuel Kappa petrol CNG engine, which is tuned with a 5-speed manual transmission.
- This engine generates 69 hp of power and 95.2 Nm of torque in CNG mode. Both engines can also run on E20 fuel.
Hyundai CNG Exter
Talking about the design elements of the car, its front has H-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), which are connected by a thin black strip. The company has given a new grill with a unique design in the car. LED projector headlamps are available on it. These projector headlamps are covered in two square-shaped cases.
The front face is completed with skid plates and ‘EXTER’ badges.
Diamond-cut alloy wheels fitted in blacked-out wheel arches give the car a sporty look. This is the base model, so the EX’s cabin is simple. It gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology. This unit comes with in-built navigation. It can be customized in 10 local and two global languages.
40+ Advanced Safety Features-
- To set a benchmark in safety, Hyundai has equipped the Xterra with over 40 advanced safety features, 26 of which are standard.
- There are many segment first safety features like TPMS (Highline) and a burglar alarm.
- Apart from this, the car includes a headlamp escort function, auto headlamp, child ISOFIX seat, rear defogger and rear parking camera.

Hyundai Xcent CNG EX Price
The EX variant with dual CNG cylinders is now Hyundai’s most affordable CNG SUV. The EX variant with dual CNG cylinders is priced at Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 1.05 lakh cheaper than the S Executive variant that comes with a single CNG cylinder.
Now it has a total of 5 dual-cylinder SNG variants – EX, S, S+, SX and SX Night. The ex-showroom price of its top variant is Rs 9.48 lakh. At the same time, the price of the micro SUV in petrol is between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.50 lakh. In India, this car will compete with Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Francox and Ignis.
