LIC Q3 FY25: Profit Surges 16% YoY to Rs 11,009 Crore

LIC Q3 FY25: The consolidated net profit of the country’s largest insurance company LIC in the third quarter (July-September) of the financial year 2024-25 increased by 16% on an annual basis (YoY) to ₹ 11,009 crore.

The company had made a profit of ₹9,469 crore in the same quarter a year ago.The company said in a stock exchange filing that the company’s profit after tax in the first nine months of the current financial year was Rs 29,138 crore, which was Rs 26,913 crore in the same period of the last financial year. This shows an increase of 8.27 % on an annual basis.

In the first nine months of the current financial year, the company has collected a total premium of Rs 3,40,563 crore. There has been an increase of 5.51 percent on annual basis. The company’s assets under management (AUM) have increased by 10.29 percent on an annual basis to Rs 54,77,651 crore.

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has released its third quarter results on February 7. The company’s net premium income has declined by 9% on an annual basis. In the first nine months of the current financial year, LIC’s new business premium income (individual) has increased by 9.73 percent year-on-year to Rs 42,441 crore.

Net premium income in the LIC Q3 FY25 stood at Rs 1.07 lakh crore. Net premium income in the same quarter a year ago i.e. the third quarter of FY24 was Rs 1.17 lakh crore.

CEO and MD said On LIC Q3 FY25

“Our focus and strategy continues to be towards transforming our product and channel mix to meet the needs of our customers in a dynamic environment,” said Siddharth Mohanty, CEO and MD, LIC.

He further said that the Value of New Business (VNB) margin has improved to 17.1 per cent in the first nine months of the current financial year, compared to 16.6 per cent in the same period last year.

The value of new business during this period was Rs 6,477 crore, which was Rs 5,938 crore in the same period last year.Mohanty further informed that till now more than 1.25 lakh women have been registered in the Bima Sakhi scheme and more than 70,000 have been appointed as Bima Sakhi.

Revenue Breakdown for LIC Q3 FY25

  • First Year Premium: ₹7,334 crore, down from ₹11,245 crore in Q2FY25.
  • Renewal Premium: Increased to ₹64,923 crore, up both sequentially and year-on-year.
  • Single Premium: Dropped significantly to ₹35,172 crore from ₹46,998 crore in Q2FY25.

Share Performance

LIC shares closed 2.15% lower at ₹811 on Friday. The company’s shares have fallen 26.62% in the last one year. The market cap of the company is Rs 5.16 lakh crore.
