March 2025 GST Collection: Today on 1st April the new financial year has started with a good news. There is good news on the gross GST collection front. In the month of March, the gross GST collection increased by 9.9 % and it exceeded Rs 1.96 lakh crore. This information was given in the government data released on Tuesday.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue from domestic transactions grew by 8.8 % to Rs 1.49 lakh crore, while revenue from imported goods rose 13.56 % to Rs 46,919 crore.

March 2025 GST Collection:-

  • A year ago, in March 2024, the government collected Rs 1.78 lakh crore GST.
  • In March, GST collection increased by 6.5% every month.
  • Let us tell you, March was the 13th consecutive month when the monthly collection was more than Rs 1.70 lakh crore.
  • In March’s gross GST revenue, Rs 38,100 crore was collected from Central GST, Rs 49,900 crore from State GST, Rs 95,900 crore from Integrated GST and Rs 12,300 crore from Compensation Cess.

Totel Refunds March Rose 41%

Total refunds during March rose 41 % to Rs 19,615 crore. After adjusting for refunds, the net GST revenue in March 2025 stood at over Rs 1.76 lakh crore, up 7.3 %over the same month a year ago.

March 2025 GST Collection by States

The top 5 states contributing to GST collection in March were Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

  • Maharashtra collected Rs 31,534 crore in March 2025, which is 14% higher than March 2024.
  • Karnataka has collected Rs 13,497 crore, which is 4% more than last year.
  • Gujarat contributed Rs 12,095 crore, which is 6% more than March 2024.
  • Tamil Nadu has collected Rs 11,017 crore, which is a growth of 7%.
  • Uttar Pradesh has collected Rs 9,956 crore, which shows a growth of 10% year-on-year.
  • Delhi has collected Rs 6,139 crore. This is 5% more than March 2024.
  • Bihar has the lowest GST collection, with the outstanding amount till March 2025 being only Rs 2.6 crore.
  • It was followed by Lakshadweep and Andhra Pradesh, which have collected Rs 3 crore and Rs 4.033 crore, respectively.

The Collection in February was Rs 183,646 Crore

Let us tell you that earlier in the month of February, due to double digit growth in tax collection from domestic sources, the Goods and Services Tax collection had increased by 9.1% to Rs 183,646 crore. In January, GST collection had reached Rs 1.96 lakh crore. It saw an increase of 12.3% compared to the same period last year.
