Vande Bharat Express Kashmir: There is good news for the passengers going to the Vaishno Devi temple. Soon, you will be able to travel by Vande Bharat Express Kashmir, and it will start in April starting tomorrow. The date for this has also been decided. The first Vande Bharat train from Katra to Kashmir will start running from 19 April. Union Minister Jitendra Singh has given this information on his Twitter (now X) account. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off this train.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to flag off the first Vande Bharat Express Kashmir rail route on 19 April 2025. This moment will also be proof of the completion of the 272-km-long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project. It said that due to ongoing renovation work at the Jammu station, the Jammu-Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express is initially being run from Katra station.

38 Tunnels, 927 Bridges are Included in this Rail Project 

According to officials, this rail project connecting Kashmir was started in 1997. But, it was postponed many times due to many challenges including weather. However, now it is complete, and it includes 38 tunnels, which are spread over a total distance of 119 kilometers.

Vande Bharat Express Kashmir: What is the Speciality of This Route

  • The rail link project also includes 927 bridges, whose total length is 13 kilometers. 
  • These include the Chenab Bridge, whose total length is 1,315 meters and the arch span is 467 meters and it is 359 meters above the river.
  • The special thing is that the Chenab Rail Bridge is 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower.
  • The first Vande Bharat Express train in India ran on February 15, 2019, on the New Delhi- Kanpur- Allahabad- Varanasi route, with a speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

According to reports, Union Minister Jitendra Singh has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Udhampur on April 19 and inaugurate the world’s highest railway bridge. After this, the PM will flag off the Vande Bharat train from Katra.

According to media reports, officials said that the Railway Safety Commissioner has also approved the train service between Katra and Kashmir and the rail link project was completed last month. They said that the trial run of the train on the Katra-Baramulla link has also been done successfully.

The First Trial was Held on 23 January

Let us tell you that on January 23, Indian Railways conducted a trial run of the first Vande Bharat train from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) railway station to the Srinagar railway station. This train will pass through Anji Khad Bridge, which is India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge and Chenab Bridge which is the world’s highest railway bridge.

Passengers’ time will be saved This direct rail connectivity from Katra to Kashmir was being demanded for a long time, which is now going to be fulfilled. According to railway officials, especially on this Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla project, the travel time between Jammu and Srinagar will be reduced considerably with the Vande Bharat Express.

Many Countries Showed Interest in Importing Vande Bharat

This train has been designed keeping in mind the cold climatic conditions of the Kashmir Valley. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that many countries have shown interest in importing semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains from India.Indian Railways launched India’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat Express and is considered a ‘Make in India’ success story.

It will help in tourism and economic development. The aim of running Vande Bharat Express is to promote tourism, agriculture, industry and education. This will provide year-round connectivity to the people of Kashmir. This initiative will accelerate economic development and create new opportunities for residents.
