Now passengers will get ATM facility in trains as well. Railways have started ATM facility in trains. This will enable people to get banking services on the go. This means that now you do not need to get down at the station to withdraw money. You will be able to withdraw money from ATM in the moving train itself.

For the first time in the country, an ATM has been installed in a moving train. Its trial was successful. This ATM has been installed in an AC coach of Panchvati Express running between Manmad of Nashik and Mumbai.
However, it is not clear when it will be implemented on a wide scale.

What is said about the Central Railway?

Central Railway (CR) officials said that this ATM has been provided by a private bank, and it has been installed in the air-conditioned chair car coach of this daily express service. According to them, it will be made available to passengers soon.

According to railway officials, the ATM has been installed in a cubicle at the rear of the coach, where there was a temporary pantry earlier. A shutter door has also been installed to ensure security and access while the train is running.

  • This ATM has been installed in partnership with the Bhusaval Railway Division and the Bank of Maharashtra.
  • Although, there was some network problem at some places between Igatpuri to Kasara, but the machine worked well throughout the journey.

Let us tell you that the necessary changes in this coach were made in the Manmad Railway Workshop. Panchvati Express runs daily between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai and Manmad Junction in the neighbouring Nashik district. This train completes the one-way journey in about 4 hours and 35 minutes.

ATM service will also be available in the Mumbai-Hingoli Jan Shatabdi Express. Divisional Railway Manager of Bhusaval division, Iti Pandey said, “The results of the ATM trial have been positive. Now people will be able to withdraw money even while travelling. We will keep a constant watch on the performance of the machine.
Interestingly, this ATM will also be available on the Mumbai-Hingoli Jan Shatabdi Express as both the trains share the same rake.”

Security Arrangements for ATM

In this 22 coach train, all coaches are connected by vestibules, so that all passengers can access the ATM. This machine not only provides the facility to withdraw money, but also to order a cheque book and get the account statement.

For security, the ATM has been equipped with a shutter system and CCTV cameras. Railway officials say that if this service becomes popular among passengers, it can be implemented in other trains as well.
