Google Opens First Security Engineering: Google has chosen Hyderabad to set up its Security Engineering Center (GSEC), which is expected to help establish Hyderabad as the global capital for creating cyber security and security engineering offerings for the world. This center will be well-equipped like the centers located in Tokyo, Dublin, Munich, and Málaga. This is India’s first and the world’s Fifth Google security engineering center.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, while posting this matter on platform ‘X’, said that he, along with Industry and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, has completed a major cutting-edge technology investment partnership with Google.
The Chief Minister and the IT Minister met a global team from Google led by Royal Hansen.
- Royal Hansen is Vice President of Privacy, Safety, and Security Engineering at Google, where he leads the central engineering function that builds and scales the foundational technology that keeps billions of people safe online.
According to an official Notification, This GSEC is a specialized international cyber security center that will play a key role in developing advanced security and online security products for the Indian context.
The center will focus on creating a collaborative platform for cutting-edge research, AI-powered security solutions, and leading experts and researchers in cyber security. It also aims to promote skill development, boost employment, and enhance cyber security capabilities in India.
Starting of Google Opens First Security Engineering Plan
Google Opens First Security Engineering was launched at the Google for India 2024 Conclave on 3 October 2024, triggering a tough competition among states to bag this investment. Google’s largest employee base in Hyderabad, is currently building its largest office in the world outside its headquarters here.
The Government of Telangana actively contributed to this scheme and played a key role in ensuring that this state-of-the-art facility would be set up in Hyderabad during the Chief Minister’s visit to Google Headquarters in the US. Which will help make Hyderabad a leader in technology innovation and cyber security.
An Important Step in Indian Cyber Security
The establishment of the Google Opens First Security Engineering Center in Hyderabad is considered an important step to solve India’s unique cyber security challenges. The initiative will collaborate with best-in-class security engineers, local policy experts, academic institutions, and government partners.
It will contribute to enhancing the digital security of businesses, government institutions, and citizens, besides creating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Google and the Telangana government will explore partnerships in the startup ecosystem, including the establishment of a Google Startup Hub. The company will also explore programs to support Young India Skills University using Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security skills and competencies.
