IndiGo Flights to Turkey: DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) has given IndiGo a 3-month ultimatum to fly 2 Turkish Airlines planes. IndiGo had leased two large aircraft (Boeing 777) from Turkish Airlines to operate direct flights from Delhi to Mumbai and Istanbul under a 2023 deal.
The deal also includes pilots and crew members of Turkiye Airlines for the aircraft. This agreement is for 6 months. It has to be approved afresh every six months. Air India has refused to extend it further with the Civil Aviation Ministry.

This decision has come at a time when Turkey had stated to support India in support of Pakistan. On May 15, the Indian government also cancelled the security clearance of Turkish company Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd. Many travel websites have also advised against going to Turkey.
During this time, DGCA had ordered to end the agreement with Turkish Airlines. After this, IndiGo had asked for 6 months. Now, DGCA has given a final deadline till 31 August so that passengers do not face any problem. But IndiGo will have to end the agreement with Turkish Airlines within the stipulated time.

- Indian online travel platforms such as EaseMyTrip and ixigo have issued advisories to avoid travelling to Turkey and Azerbaijan, citing security risks and political tensions.
- India’s prestigious university, ty Jawaharlal Nehru University, suspended its agreement with Turkey’s Inonu University, citing national security. AMU also ended academic ties.
- Traders in Pune have decided to stop buying apples from Turkey. Instead, they are buying apples from Himachal, Uttarakhand, Iran and other regions. The Udaipur Marble Processors Association has urged the government to stop the import of marble. Kanpur traders have cancelled 80% of their orders. Jaipur traders have put orders worth crores on hold.
- Adani Airport Holdings has ended its partnership with Turkish firm Celebi for ground handling services at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.
- The boycott of Turkiye in India is continuously increasing. After travel agencies and trade organisations, the country’s leading e-commerce platform, Myntra, and Reliance-owned Ajio have also stopped selling Turkiye products. These brands are now out of stock on these platforms.
IndiGo Flights to Turkey: Indian Tourists Boycott Turkey & Azerbaijan
Amid India-Pakistan tension, Indian tourists are boycotting Turkey and Azerbaijan. According to MakeMyTrip, cancellations of passengers travelling to Turkey-Azerbaijan have increased by 250% in the last week. Along with this, bookings have fallen by 60%. At the same time, cancellations have increased by 30% for Azerbaijan, by 22% for Turkey.
