Warren Buffett has donated an additional $6 billion of Berkshire Hathaway shares to the Gates Foundation and four family charities, his largest annual donation since he began donating his wealth nearly two decades ago.

The donation of approximately 12.36 million shares of Berkshire Class B shares brought Buffett’s donations to charity to more than $60 billion. Buffett donated 9.43 million shares to the Gates Foundation, 943,384 shares to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, and 660,366 shares to each of the three charities run by his children Howard, Susie, and Peter. These charities are- Howard G. Buffett Foundation, Sherwood Foundation and NoVo Foundation. However, Warren Buffett still owns 13.8% of Berkshire’s shares.

According to Forbes magazine, Warren Buffett had a net worth of $152 billion before Friday’s donation. He was the 5th richest person in the world. Buffett will be in sixth place after the donation, which is more than the $5.3 billion he donated last June.
